Crianza red wine made with Tempranillo grape from the Ribera del Duero Vallisoletana. It is a soft wine but with a fruity presence, marked by its character and harmony. It is very pleasant to the palate.
You will like … its softness in the mouth and the final aftertaste of fresh black fruits.
An extra … it is recommended to decant before serving.
Did you know … the Tempranillo grape, also called Tinta del país or Cencibel, is recognized as “the noble grape of Spain”. It is the diminutive of “early”, because this type of grape has an earlier maturation than the rest of the Spanish red grapes. Originally from the north of Spain as early as the Romans.
With its first red, a Crianza from the 1994 vintage, Bodegas Reyes, better known as Teófilo Reyes, managed to place for the first time a Spanish wine among the top ten in the world in the tastings of the prestigious magazine Wine Spectator. This brilliant start gave the brand an enormous prestige that today, almost 25 years later, it has managed to recover thanks to the excellent management of Zuazo Gastón Bodegas y Viñedos. Teófilo Reyes 2016 is a ‘Ribera’ from the feet to the head, a powerful and intense red that will seduce you from the first drink.
Bodegas Teófilo Reyes was founded in 1994 by Juan José and Luis Reyes under the technical direction of his father Teófilo, who had been working among strains for more than 50 years. The premiere of the winery could not be more shocking, as his first red, Teófilo Reyes Crianza 1994, was the first Spanish wine included among the ten best wines in the world in the Wine Spectator tastings. Despite this, the firm’s trajectory was not as bright as expected and, for a few years, the wines of Teófilo Reyes have been sold to the market under the direction of Zuazo Gastón Bodegas y Viñedos, which has made this mythical brand return to shine like yesterday.
Bodegas Reyes has 60 hectares of its own vineyard in the municipalities of Peñafiel, Manzanillo and Olmos de Peñafiel, in the heart of the D.O. Ribera del Duero Do not miss out on one of the best ‘riverbanks’ of recent decades. Teófilo Reyes 2016 is ideal to accompany dishes of mushrooms, a sirloin pepper, tripe to the Madrid or fabada Asturian.
