Abadía Retuerta Recognized internationally, Abadía Retuerta wines are one of the most elegant expressions found in Castilla y León. Tradition and experience together with meticulous work are combined in this cellar.
At the time of the Reconquest, the Count of Castilla ordered fortress convents to be built throughout its territory. Thus, in 1146, the Monastery of Our Lady of Santa María de Retuerta was built. Its wonderful enclave on the banks of the Douro River gives it the surname of Ribula Torta (tortuous shore). In 1996 Abadía Retuerta winery was founded in Sardón del Duero. His vineyard is made up of 700 hectares, divided into 54 plots that are distributed on the slopes adjacent to the abbey in heights that reach 850 meters; all of them different due to their location, orientation and soils, which has allowed the Abadía Retuerta winery to make a careful selection of the varieties that best adapt to each plot. Each payment covers a single variety.
The management of this elegant winery is, from its origins, in the hands of Pascal Delbeck, an internationally renowned wine company. His philosophy is summarized by him when he states that Abadía Retuerta is the rebirth of a historic vineyard and the creation of a unique wine. At his side, always, the enologist Ángel Anocibar, an enologist graduated from the University of Bordeaux.
